The film, directed by Swedish director Bo Öhlén, honors the historic event of April 30, 1975 and highlights the strong friendship between Sweden and Vietnam.
At the award ceremony held on April 25, Mr. Oscar Staffas Edström, Head of Trade and Promotion Department of the Embassy of Sweden in Vietnam emphasized: “This documentary reflects the deep friendship that Sweden and Vietnam have shared during important moments in history. Through the perspective of this film, we not only see the courage and resilience of Vietnam but also appreciate more the lasting human values of peace and unity that connect us all. We hope that the film will become a bridge between the two countries, reminding us of the lasting friendship and solidarity between the two countries."

Made exactly 50 years ago, "Vietnam's Victory", directed by Swedish director Bo Öhlén, recorded the historical events of April 30, 1975, when tens of thousands of people in the Nordic country took to the streets of Stockholm to march, expressing their joy when Vietnam liberated the South and reunified the country.
The image of Swedish people celebrating Vietnam's victory, singing peace songs, and holding up banners supporting the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam moved the audience.

This precious, never-before-seen colour film also documents the marches in the days after Vietnam's reunification, where peace-loving Swedes shared the loss and grief of the Vietnamese, as well as congratulated friends thousands of kilometres away.
“We are truly honored to welcome this documentary into our archives,” said Le Thi Ha, Director of the Vietnam Film Institute. “It is not only a valuable historical film, but also a profound symbol of international solidarity and shared values that continue to inspire us today.”

Attending the ceremony virtually, Swedish filmmaker Bo Öhlén shared his thoughts on the making of the documentary and its message: “When I shot ‘Victory of Vietnam’, I wanted to capture not only the historical events of April 30, 1975, but also the powerful emotions and solidarity that echoed throughout Sweden. This film is a tribute to the courage of the Vietnamese people and their struggle for independence, as well as the heartfelt support that Vietnam received from people all over the world . I am grateful to see this documentary become part of the Vietnamese national archive, where it will continue to inspire and remind us of the importance of friendship and global unity in a turbulent and challenging world.”
