These are the first Technical Delegates Meeting and the third Coordination Commission Meeting of the Olympic Council of Asia. Both events will be important milestones in the countdown to the 2026 Asian Games . The event is scheduled to take place from September 19 to October 4 with the participation of 15,000 athletes and officials from the 45 National Olympic Committees of the OCA. Athletes will compete in 41 sports.
Cricket will be held in Aichi Prefecture
More than 350 people will attend the three-day meeting of technical delegates who will oversee the sports and competitions during the Games. They include 67 technical delegates, 12 representatives from international and Asian federations, 70 directors and members of the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games Organizing Committee, and 200 managers and staff from various sub-committees such as sports, services and venues.
The meeting of technical delegates will begin with a general presentation on the first morning, followed by site visits and individual sessions to finalize policies, protocols, rules, regulations and event management details.
A major development took place at the 41st meeting of the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games Standing Committee on April 28, when cricket and mixed martial arts were officially added to the competition programme. Mixed martial arts will have 06 events in its debut at the Asian Games and will be classified as a combat sport, along with kurash and jujitsu.
Cricket will be held in Aichi Prefecture, although the exact venue has yet to be confirmed. Cricket is expected to attract a large crowd, especially given its popularity in South Asia and the T20 format being introduced at the 2028 Los Angeles Summer Olympics. This will be the first time cricket has returned to the Olympic Games since its debut at the 1900 Paris Summer Olympics, where Great Britain beat France by 158 runs in the final.
