Tien Linh makes V.League have 3 top scorers for the first time

Tien Linh's only goal helped Binh Duong defeat Thanh Hoa in round 26 of V.League 2024/25, not only having significance in terms of points, but also marking a historical milestone.

Before the final round of V.League 2024/25, the race for the Golden Boot is witnessing an attractive duel between Lucao ( Hai Phong ) and Alan (CAHN), when both have 14 goals. Fans all expect round 26 to witness an explosive sprint from these two foreign strikers. However, both Lucao and Alan "failed to score" in the final match, causing the situation to suddenly change.

The one who created the turning point was Nguyen Tien Linh. Returning from the training session with the Vietnamese team, with high spirits, the Binh Duong striker managed to score a double in round 25, bringing the total number of goals to 13. In round 26, Tien Linh continued to shine when he scored the only goal to help Binh Duong defeat Thanh Hoa. This goal not only helped Binh Duong bring home all 3 points but also helped him reach the 14-goal mark, catching up with Lucao and Alan.

With that result, for the first time in V.League history, three players have won the title of top scorer. Previously, Vietnam's number one tournament had only seen two players share this title, such as in 2009, Do Merlo and Lazaro both had 15 goals, in 2013 Gonzalo and Hoang Vu Samson both had 14 goals. In 2019, Bruno Cunha and Omar had a similar achievement with 14 goals, or most recently in 2020, Rimario and Pedro Paulo both received the title of V.League top scorer with 12 goals.

Notably, Tien Linh also became the second domestic player in the 25-year history of V.League to win the Golden Boot, after his current coach, Coach Nguyen Anh Duc. The former Vietnam national team player scored 17 goals for Binh Duong in the 2017 season.
