In recent times, our country's rice industry has achieved many great achievements, helping to firmly ensure national food security and provide a large amount of rice for export, creating foreign currency for the country and contributing positively to ensuring world food security. The quality, image and brand of Vietnamese rice are increasingly improved and affirming its reputation and position in the international market.

Vietnam's rice exports have increased sharply, from 6 million tons in previous years to 7.5 million tons in 2022 and surpassing 9.18 million tons in the past, earning over 5.7 billion USD. Vietnam's rice has been present in many countries and many demanding markets thanks to its high quality and our country's exported rice is currently mostly high-quality rice.
However, the rice industry still faces many difficulties and challenges due to climate change, competition in the international market and increasing consumer demands. Our country improves the quality and diversifies rice products to create a difference in the world market. Build an effective rice value chain, from production to processing and consumption, to increase added value for farmers and businesses. Close coordination between management agencies, businesses and farmers to ensure the interests of all stakeholders, especially the need to increase farmers' income so that they can confidently stick with rice.

At the workshop, delegates were updated by the Vietnam Food Association, the Vietnam Rice Industry Association, and representatives of functional agencies of central and local ministries, institutes, schools, enterprises and banks, providing information on rice production, export and the development situation of our country's rice industry in the past time, orientations and development goals in the coming time. The situation of credit investment for rice industry development and the implementation of the loan program for organizations and individuals participating in the chain to implement the Project on sustainable development of 1 million hectares of high-quality, low-emission rice cultivation associated with green growth in the Mekong Delta region by 2030 (Project on 1 million hectares of high-quality rice)...
Agribank was assigned by the State Bank to be the key bank to pilot the 1 million hectare high-quality rice project. Agribank leaders attended the workshop and Agribank had a booth to display and introduce loan programs and the bank's products and services.
Delegates focused on discussing and proposing strategies for the development of Vietnam's rice industry, aiming to enhance the value chain and develop green and sustainable development. Discussing the repositioning of the value of Vietnamese rice in the context of globalization and international integration trends, thereby promoting the export of high-quality rice to the world, promoting the replication of high-quality and low-emission rice production models according to the 1 million hectares of high-quality rice project...
Rice varieties were displayed and introduced by the Mekong Delta Rice Institute at the workshop.
Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc He, Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee, emphasized that Vietnam's rice industry plays an important role in ensuring national and world food security. In particular, the rice industry of the Mekong Delta region has achieved many great achievements in recent times, contributing 50% of rice output and more than 90% of rice export output, ensuring national food security, and Vietnamese rice has affirmed its position in the world market.
However, according to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc He, the rice industry also has ups and downs, the lives of rice farmers still face many difficulties, the income of rice farmers is still lower than some other agricultural production sectors. Rice production is also facing many difficulties and challenges such as climate change, environmental issues, increasingly high quality requirements, branding issues... The 1 million hectare CLC rice project is an opportunity, a solution to continue promoting the development of the rice industry.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc He said that the implementation of the 1 million hectares of high-quality rice project in the past time has been actively implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and the provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta region right from the beginning... The workshop is an opportunity for experts, scientists, businesses, managers and all delegates to exchange and share solutions, orientations, good practices, and scientific and technological solutions to promote Vietnam's rice industry in the coming time.
