In his opening speech at the seminar, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Tien Vinh said that the Three Religions, including Buddhism, Confucianism and Taoism, are the core elements and foundations of Vietnamese culture, so research on Vietnamese culture cannot be separated from research on the Three Religions.
When discussing the identity and cultural characteristics of Vietnam, there are many different assessments of the role of each religion, ideology and the relationship between them, but most recent studies recognize the view of a cultural and ideological framework of the Three Religions that is harmonized and integrated as prominent, encompassing and the general appearance of Vietnamese cultural and ideological culture.
However, the structure of the relationship between the Three Religions is different in each historical period, depending greatly on the political , economic, social conditions and cultural characteristics of each period.
"The issue of the Three Religions in historical periods such as the Ly Dynasty (1009 - 1225), Tran Dynasty (1226 - 1400), Le Dynasty (1407 - 1527)... has attracted many research works and mentions, however, the Mac Dynasty (1527 - 1677) in general and the topic of the correlation of the Three Religions in the Mac Dynasty in particular have not been discussed from the perspective of documents, approaches as well as research evaluations", Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Tien Vinh noted.
Therefore, the Tran Nhan Tong Institute chaired the Scientific Seminar “The Relationship between the Three Religions of Buddhism, Confucianism and Taoism in the Mac Dynasty” to create a scientific forum for scientists to research and discuss this issue of interest. Thereby contributing to the mission of researching, preserving and promoting the traditional cultural and ideological values of Vietnam, contributing to the building of a new spiritual life and value system for the Vietnamese people.

The seminar is a forum to announce discoveries of new documents and values of documents about the Mac Dynasty, as well as new approaches and research on Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism, the relationship between the Three Religions with each other and with culture, society, politics, religion and beliefs... during the Mac Dynasty.
