On June 18, on the first day of the 19th General Assembly of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) and related events in Saint Petersburg (Russia) and before the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum 2025, Russian President Vladimir Putin met and gave interviews to the Heads of Delegations of OANA News Agencies and representatives of major media agencies around the world.
The conversation took place in the form of questions and answers and focused on Russia's views on promoting regional and global economic cooperation; Russia's views and policies in solving important issues facing the world.
Responding to a question from VNA Director General Vu Viet Trang about the initiatives and visions that Russia is pursuing regarding Asia, Southeast Asia and the Vietnam-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, President Putin affirmed that Russia considers Southeast Asia a very promising region in terms of both its share in the world economy and its rapid growth rate. Russia's cooperation with Southeast Asia is developing with increasing trade turnover.
President Putin emphasized that the exceptionally good Russia-Vietnam relationship has stood the test of time. He affirmed that the relationship between Russia and Vietnam has not been affected by rapid developments in the world. Cooperation between the two countries has many bright spots such as in the fields of scientific research and energy.
The Russian President said he is ready to expand cooperation, including providing “Vietnamese friends” with opportunities to work in Russia in the hydrocarbon sector. He particularly noted the successful investment of Vietnamese enterprises in Russia’s agricultural sector, pledging to create all conditions for Vietnamese investors to operate smoothly.

President Putin also highly appreciated cooperation in the field of education and human resource training with its “double” effectiveness, on the one hand helping Vietnam have a source of highly educated cadres, on the other hand helping to strengthen the sincere and loyal relationship between Russian and Vietnamese friends.
President Putin recalled the warm feelings he felt during his visits to Vietnam and especially during his meetings with representatives of former students who studied at universities in the former Soviet Union and present-day Russia. The Russian President happily said: “During those meetings, I did not feel like I was abroad but rather in Moscow or Saint Petersburg.”
Most recently, General Secretary To Lam paid an official visit to Russia and attended the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism. The results achieved in the talks between the two leaders showed that the two countries are cooperating more and more effectively and practically, bringing benefits to both sides.
Also at the meeting, answering questions from leaders of the world's leading press agencies about current issues such as the Iran-Israel conflict, negotiations with Ukraine, the resumption of Russia-Europe relations, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) rearmament plan, cooperation in Asia... President Putin affirmed that Moscow is open to negotiations with European countries as well as supporting the current trend of restoring relations with the US.

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Vietnam's Revolutionary Press, VNA General Director Vu Viet Trang respectfully presented Russian President Putin with a photo book on 100 years of Vietnam's Revolutionary Press , a bilingual documentary publication compiled and published by the News Agency Publishing House.
