Consul General of Vietnam in Guangzhou attends the 11th Guangdong International Fisheries Exhibition

Consul General Nguyen Viet Dung met and talked with Mayor of Zhanjiang City Li Yongyi before the opening ceremony.

It has been held annually since 2014 and has received high priority and strong support from the Zhanjiang Municipal Government and relevant departments. From an emerging industry event, the Exhibition has developed into an important platform connecting global aquaculture trade. At present, the Exhibition is recognized as a leading exhibition under the brand of “Guangdong Trade for the Nation, Guangdong High-end Products”.

Attending the event were Secretary of the Zhanjiang Municipal Party Committee Xu Gang; Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, Mayor of Zhanjiang City Li Yongyi; Consul General of Vietnam in Guangzhou Nguyen Viet Dung; Consul General/representatives of Consulate Generals of several countries in Guangzhou, trade promotion organizations and many Chinese and international enterprises operating in the field of aquaculture.

With the theme of “Charming Zhanjiang, Leading Aquatic Products”, this year’s Guangdong International Fisheries Expo aims to promote international exchanges and cooperation in the aquatic products sector and promote Chinese aquatic products to the global market, while strengthening connections between enterprises in the global aquatic products supply chain.

The event attracted the participation of more than 300 exhibiting businesses and about 4,000 visitors who were buyers and trade partners from China and many other countries.

Mayor of Zhanjiang City Li Yongyi delivered the opening speech.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mayor Li Yongyi of Zhanjiang City emphasized the strategic role of the marine economy in the local development. He said that Zhanjiang is now one of China's key marine economic centers.

After 10 editions, the Guangdong International Fisheries Expo has emerged as one of the two largest fisheries events in China in the southern region, alongside the Qingdao Fisheries Expo in the northern region.

Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Consul General Nguyen Viet Dung highly appreciated the potential for developing the modern seafood industry of Zhanjiang City, especially the connecting role of the Exhibition in enhancing international cooperation, technology transfer, promoting investment and developing the cold supply chain. The Consul General emphasized that China is currently one of the largest and most important seafood export markets of Vietnam, especially for key products such as shrimp, pangasius and processed seafood.

According to Consul General Nguyen Viet Dung, this event is an opportunity for Vietnamese businesses to promote long-term cooperation with Chinese partners, while promoting the brand and enhancing the position of Vietnamese seafood products in the billion-people market.

Immediately after the opening ceremony, Consul General Nguyen Viet Dung and delegates visited the product display area, learned about the production process, processing technology and trade connection models of the enterprises participating in the exhibition.

The participation of the Consulate General and the Commercial Consulate of Vietnam in Guangzhou in the event is a practical economic diplomacy activity, contributing to promoting the image and capacity of the Vietnamese fisheries industry, expanding the network of connections with Chinese and international partners, as well as contributing to promoting bilateral trade in the fields of agriculture and fisheries between the two countries.
