Organizing the Elephant Festival not only aims to continue the beauty of customs, traditional culture, and lifestyle of Lao ethnic people, raise awareness and preserve elephants, but also attracts a large number of domestic and foreign tourists .
As every year, the Elephant Festival attracts a large number of tourists to Xayaboury province to admire the elephants trained and controlled by experienced mahouts. This year, in particular, the event has the participation of 50 elephants, symbolizing the 50th anniversary of the National Day of the Lao People's Democratic Republic.
The festival will kick off with a mini-marathon and elephant ride, followed by a cultural show. A street market will also showcase many typical products from Laos and other countries.
Xayaboury Province in Northern Laos, about 300km from the capital Vientiane, includes 29 natural tourist attractions, 12 cultural sites and 6 historical tourist attractions. The organization of the elephant festival in Xayaboury Province is expected to attract a large number of tourists, contributing to the socio -economic development of the province.
