Dong Thap Province and Cambodia's Prey Veng strengthen friendly relations

On the afternoon of December 13, in Cao Lanh city, a conference was held to review 2 years of implementing the content of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Thap province and the Committee of the Solidarity Front for the Development of the Cambodian Fatherland in Prey Veng province (2023-2024).

Mr. Dinh Van Dung, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Thap province and Mr. S'bong Sarath, Chairman of the Cambodian Fatherland Solidarity Front Committee of Prey Veng province co-chaired the Conference.

In his welcoming speech, Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee Pham Thien Nghia said that Vietnam and Cambodia are two neighboring countries, in which the two provinces of Dong Thap and Prey Veng share a border of more than 50km long, connecting both by river and by land.

Through each stage, the relationship between the two sides has been strengthened, built and developed. Dong Thap-Prey veng always cares to support and constantly cultivate solidarity and help each other in all difficult circumstances.

Nowadays, the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Cambodia in general and Dong Thap-Prey Veng province in particular is constantly strengthening and developing in many fields with the motto "Good neighbors, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, long-term sustainability."

In the cooperative relationship with Pray Veng province, Dong Thap always maintains and promotes the good traditional cooperative relationship in the fields of: maintaining security and order on the border, demarcation and marker planting, agriculture , trade, tourism, culture, education, health...

In particular, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees at all levels of Dong Thap province have effectively implemented people's foreign affairs activities, actively coordinated with the Cambodian Fatherland Development Solidarity Front at all levels of Prey Veng province to carry out many practical activities.

This is specifically demonstrated in 2022, in Cao Lanh city, the Dong Thap Provincial Front and Prey Veng province signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation for the period 2022-2025.

Over the past 2 years, the Front organizations of the 2 provinces have made efforts to implement the contents of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation, making an important contribution to the work of building peace, friendship, solidarity, and cooperation for development in the border area; creating an important step forward in both awareness and action of each cadre, party member, and people of all walks of life, especially the young generation, on the tradition of friendship, purity, solidarity, and attachment, enhancing the sense of responsibility to preserve and foster the good relationship between Dong Thap and Prey Veng.

Speaking at the Conference, Mr. S'bong Sarath, Chairman of the Committee of the Solidarity Front for the Development of the Cambodian Motherland in Prey Veng province, highly appreciated the results of cooperation in various fields between the two provinces in the past time, achieving many successes and regularly supporting and helping each other.

Local authorities and functional forces of the two provinces maintain security and order, ensuring safety for people in border areas to visit relatives and receive medical treatment; create favorable conditions for the import and export of goods such as rice, fertilizer, animal feed, etc., contributing to the economic development of the two provinces.

In the coming time, the Front Committees of Dong Thap and Prey Veng provinces agreed to continue to pay attention to promoting mutual support in socio-economic development in accordance with the potential and strengths of the localities on the basis of respecting and strictly complying with the laws of each country; exchanging information and sharing experiences on Front work between the two provinces and border districts; conducting extensive propaganda and education for all classes of people and the young generation to effectively implement policies, laws, treaties, and agreements on the border./.
