On the evening of October 19, Dr. Nguyen Van Thuy, Head of the Poison Control Department, Nghe An General Hospital, said that 6 patients suspected of alcohol poisoning transferred from Thanh Chuong General Hospital are still receiving intensive treatment. Of these, 4 patients with severe conditions are in a coma and need to be on ventilators, while 2 patients with milder conditions are also being monitored. Doctors have conducted tests to find the cause of the poisoning.

Previously, at noon of the same day, Thanh Chuong General Hospital received a report from the Head of Son Lam Commune Health Station about the situation of 6 patients suspected of poisoning. The hospital immediately activated the internal red alert, mobilizing the on-duty staff to concentrate on the Intensive Care - Anti-Poison Department to prepare medicine and emergency equipment.

Immediately after that, 6 patients were taken to the hospital in a state of convulsions, coma and some had stopped breathing. Here, doctors performed endotracheal intubation, ventilators, and intensive resuscitation for 4 severe patients. After that, all 6 patients were transferred to Nghe An General Hospital for further intensive treatment.

Initial investigations determined that the group of people had consumed medicinal wine before showing symptoms. Authorities have sealed the jar of wine, collected samples, and are working with local authorities to determine the cause of the incident./.
