Having stood side by side through difficult times, the Vietnamese and Bulgarian people always cherish the friendship between the two countries and are willing to contribute to fostering the Vietnam-Bulgaria relationship to develop more practically and effectively, reaching new heights.

Bulgaria was one of the first countries in the world to recognize Vietnam's independence and establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam. February 8, 1950 marked a milestone in the history of bilateral relations, when Vietnam and Bulgaria - two countries located on two continents - officially established diplomatic relations. Despite the geographical distance, the two countries still maintain a close and friendly relationship.

Bulgaria has given Vietnam valuable support and assistance in the struggle for national liberation and defense. Thousands of Vietnamese scientists, experts, and skilled workers have received training from Bulgaria in fields such as architecture, construction, agriculture , machinery manufacturing, medicine, etc.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Bulgaria Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet said that 75 years of diplomatic relations is a meaningful milestone, showing the loyal and sustainable friendship between Vietnam and Bulgaria that has been built and nurtured over many generations.

The passage of three-quarters of a century has not changed the sincere and close feelings between traditional friends. The friendship between the two peoples is a valuable common asset, the foundation for the Vietnam-Bulgaria relationship to continue to develop and succeed in the new period, with new contexts and tasks.

Bulgarian President Rumen Radev once affirmed that Bulgaria always considers Vietnam a trustworthy, sincere and loyal friend. According to the Bulgarian leader, the current trust and close relationship between the two countries is due to the contributions of Vietnamese people who used to live, work and study in Bulgaria. Currently, the Vietnamese community in Bulgaria is continuing that tradition, continuing to build a bridge of friendship between the two countries.

Veteran Bulgarian journalist Maxim Behar expressed his special affection for the hardworking and persistent Vietnamese workers who lived and worked in Bulgaria in the 80s and 90s of the last century. He affirmed that there are only a few countries in the world that have such special affection for each other as between Vietnam and Bulgaria.

Bulgarian Minister of Labor and Social Policy Borislav Gutsanov expressed his admiration for the Vietnamese people's indomitable will in the struggle for independence and national development, helping Vietnam become a developed and dynamic economy as it is today.

The important geographical location of Vietnam and Bulgaria is a favorable factor for businesses of each country to expand their investment and business markets. Bulgarian leaders affirmed that they always consider Vietnam, a dynamic member country with an important voice in ASEAN, as a bridge to help Bulgaria increase access and develop relations with the ASEAN region.

Meanwhile, Bulgaria is a bridge between Europe and Asia and the Middle East-Africa, acting as a transit point for goods on transcontinental trade routes. Bulgaria's official full accession to the European Free Travel Area (Schengen) from January 1, 2025 also creates opportunities for Vietnamese businesses to quickly access the European market.

Vietnam and Bulgaria have great potential for cooperation in diverse fields such as information technology, energy and environment; start-ups and innovation; agriculture and food industry; logistics, etc.

In the context of the world witnessing complex and unpredictable economic and political fluctuations, the fact that Vietnam and Bulgaria continue to strengthen relations based on the foundation of long-lasting friendship is a step in line with the trend, bringing benefits to both countries and contributing to the stability and common development of Europe and Asia.
