On the morning of May 10, at the intersection of 72m road and Le Nin road (Vinh city, Nghe An ), a serious accident occurred between a truck carrying watermelons and a passenger bus. The collision caused the truck to overturn, hundreds of watermelons spilled onto the road. On board the bus at the time were a couple and a grandchild. The husband was trapped in the cabin, while the wife and grandchild were taken to the emergency room by local residents.

When the authorities carried out the rescue, local residents immediately joined in to help. They collected the intact melons and cleared the road to avoid endangering other vehicles.
Mr. Vo Quoc Bao, a resident near the scene, said: "At around 6am, I went to the accident site after reading the news in the newspaper. At that time, the husband was still trapped in the cabin and was being given first aid by doctors. The rain wet the road combined with the broken melon rind making the road slippery and very dangerous. We discussed collecting the melons, gathering them in a corner to clear the scene and decided to sell the remaining melons to support the victim's family, avoiding leaving the melons exposed to the sun and spoiling them."

Ms. Nguyen Thi Oanh, a member of the Vinh City "Pot of Loving Porridge" volunteer group, also participated in cleaning up the accident scene. She shared: "This morning, my group went to distribute porridge to hospitals as scheduled. When we encountered the accident, the members immediately stopped to help clean up. Although we really wanted to stay longer, because the work was not finished, we had to leave early. People from Hamlet 17, Nghi Phu Commune poured out in large numbers, everyone wholeheartedly helped - a beautiful gesture."
Besides the practical actions at the scene, on social networks, many accounts expressed their emotions at the human love in the middle of the street. "The love of Nghe An people is forever at its peak!" - wrote account Nguyet Whitemoon. "No one stole, no one stood by and watched, only warm hands joined hands" - commented account Giac Ngo.

A donation box was placed right at the sale spot, and buyers were free to donate whatever they wanted. After more than an hour, all the watermelons had been bought.
Mr. Vo Quoc Bao said that the total amount of money raised and sold from the melons was more than 76 million VND. This amount was publicly counted and handed over to the victim’s family. According to Mr. Bao, due to the severity of his injuries, the husband did not survive.

In the unexpected incident, the people of Vinh City came together to show their kindness and share the hardships with the victim’s family. This simple and practical action once again affirmed the Vietnamese tradition of helping each other in times of trouble.
