According to the report of the National Traffic Safety Committee, the first quarter of 2025 is the first phase of implementing new regulations of the Road Traffic Safety Law, the Road Law and Decree 168/2024/ND-CP of the Government . Nationwide, there were 4,760 traffic accidents, killing 2,615 people and injuring 3,186 people. Compared to the same period in 2024, there were 1,833 fewer accidents, 215 fewer deaths, and 2,003 fewer injuries.
Ministries and sectors have synchronously and drastically implemented solutions, especially the Ministry of Public Security's strict implementation of the contents of Decree 168, which has contributed to restoring order in traffic and building the habit of obeying the law. Many common violations in the past such as drinking alcohol, speeding, and running red lights have decreased significantly compared to the same period. The Ministry of Construction, the Ministry of Public Security and local People's Committees have also urgently reviewed and thoroughly handled existing problems and shortcomings in the traffic light system, traffic signs and other shortcomings on the roads, thereby contributing to creating a suitable and convenient traffic infrastructure for the people.
In Bac Lieu province, there were 40 accidents, killing 18 people and injuring 31 people in the first quarter. The number of injured people decreased, while the number of accidents and deaths increased compared to the same period. The escorting of the Party, State and provincial leaders took place safely; there were no traffic jams, illegal racing, gatherings to speed, weave, or resist law enforcement officers. In general, the traffic safety situation in the province was basically stable.
At the conference, representatives of ministries, branches, and Traffic Safety Committees of provinces and cities focused on evaluating the results of ensuring traffic safety in the first quarter; the traffic congestion situation and solutions to reduce traffic congestion, and proposed solutions to continue reducing traffic accidents on all three criteria in the coming time.
Concluding the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha requested ministries, branches and localities to continue focusing on the identified groups of solutions. In particular, continuing to strengthen leadership and direction, closely following the work of ensuring traffic safety; promoting propaganda, raising awareness of traffic participants, especially students, students, and people in rural areas, contributing to reducing the number of traffic accidents in the area. The authorities have continuously increased patrols, controls, and strictly handled violations of traffic safety, ensuring deterrence for violators. At the same time, focusing on the application of science and technology to the management of road transport business activities through data from journey monitoring devices and cameras to promptly detect, correct, and fine violations, contributing to building traffic awareness.
