On September 20, at the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Soc Trang province, a conference was held to sign the coordination program "Promoting the role of religions in participating in environmental protection and responding to climate change in the period of 2022-2026" between the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment and religious organizations in the province.
Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Soc Trang province, Duong Sa Kha, informed that in the period of 2016-2021, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment and religious organizations have implemented a program of coordination to protect the environment, achieving positive results.
Many propaganda and training activities on environmental protection with rich and diverse content have been implemented, thereby creating environmental protection models among religious people, bringing about efficiency such as planting trees, using biogas in animal husbandry, classifying waste (organic and inorganic waste)... contributing to maintaining environmental hygiene and adapting to climate change in the province.
At the Conference, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment and religious organizations signed the Coordination Program for the period 2022-2026.
The coordination program sets out a number of important goals such as disseminating and popularizing the Party's guidelines, the State's policies and laws on environmental protection and climate change adaptation, mobilizing dignitaries, officials, and religious people to actively participate in patriotic emulation movements, 100% of households and religious communities respond to environmental protection activities, climate change adaptation...
According to the leader of Soc Trang Provincial Party Committee, the whole province has 64 affiliated religious organizations, 2 religious training facilities, 301 religious facilities, 382 belief facilities. Currently, the whole province has 366 dignitaries, 677 officials, 2,003 monks and 638,949 religious people.
The province has done a good job of mobilizing religious people to protect the environment, adapt to climate change, and promote the strength of national solidarity in implementing economic development tasks and protecting local security and order.
