Organize the handover and collection of biological samples of 76 remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Laos during the 2024-2025 dry season

Implementing Plan No. 318/KH-UBND dated May 6, 2025 of the People's Committee of Nghe An province on the meeting with the Special Working Group of Xieng Khouang, Vientiane, Xay Som Bun provinces of the Lao People's Democratic Republic; receiving, moving, organizing the memorial service, burying the remains of martyrs and the welcoming ceremony for officers and staff of the Collection Team on duty to search for and collect the remains of martyrs in Laos, dry season 2024-2025 back to the country.

On the morning of May 19, 2025 , at the martyrs' cemetery of Nghi Loc district, the Department of Home Affairs of Nghe An, the Military Command of Nghe An province and the People's Committee of Nghi Loc district organized the handover and collection of biological samples to serve the DNA identification of 76 remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in the Lao PDR in the dry season of 2024 - 2025.

Attending the Conference were representatives of the Political Department and Logistics Department of Military Region 4. On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrades: Comrade Nguyen Viet Hung - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Department of Home Affairs; Comrade Vi Ngoc Quynh - Deputy Director of the Department of Home Affairs; Colonel Pham Dinh Trung, Member of the Party Committee, Deputy Political Commissar of the Provincial Military Command.

After the Provincial Military Command handed over the remains of 76 Vietnamese Volunteer Soldiers and Experts who sacrificed their lives for the noble international mission in Laos, the Department of Home Affairs coordinated with the Nghi Loc District People's Committee and the Collection Team, the Provincial Military Command to collect biological samples to determine the DNA of the 76 martyrs' remains.

The preservation and storage of DNA samples of martyrs with missing information at the martyr DNA bank is extremely important in searching for and comparing DNA samples of martyrs' relatives, in order to determine their identities, help their relatives find their graves and bring them back to their homeland and family. After completing the biological sampling work, the martyrs' remains will be buried at Nghi Loc District Cemetery on May 20, 2025.
