Accordingly, at 2:00 a.m. on November 20, Fishing boat BD-98268 TS, owner and captain Mr. Huynh Van Ban, Tam Quan ward, Hoai Nhon town, Binh Dinh province, while the boat was operating in the sea area with coordinates 10'53'N 1032'E (about 92 nautical miles northeast of Phu Quy island, Binh Thuan ) was flooded, the boat sank, there were 14 workers on board, the crew members were trying to cling to floating objects of the fishing boat.
Immediately after receiving the information, the Standing Office of Natural Disaster Prevention and Control of Binh Dinh province transferred the information to the Quy Nhon Coastal Information Station and the Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue of Phu Yen province, requesting coordination with the ship owner's family to notify, call, and mobilize ships operating near the area of the ship in distress to support and rescue 14 crew members on board the ship BD-98268 TS.
In the area where the fishing boat was in distress, there are currently fishing boats PY-96292 TS and PY-92628 TS organizing a search and rescue for 14 crew members. In addition, there are 2 fishing boats from Binh Dinh on their way to support the boat in distress, including: fishing boat BD 9S122 TS of Mr. Tran Toan, in Hoai Thanh ward, Hoai Nhon town, about 20 nautical miles from the area where the boat was in distress, and fishing boat BD 96926 TS of Mr. Vo Tiep, in Hoai Huong, Hoai Nhon, about 24 nautical miles from the area where the boat was in distress.
The working delegation of the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue, led by Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and Deputy Head of the Committee Tran Van Phuc, together with leaders of Hoai Nhon Town People's Committee and leaders of Hoai Nhon Economic Department, departed for Binh Thuan province to coordinate and organize search and rescue.
At 7:20 a.m. on November 20, Coast Guard ship CSB 6007, on duty in the Phu Quy island area, Binh Thuan, departed to the area of the ship in distress to organize search and rescue.
To promptly rescue fishing boat BD-98268 TS and 14 crew members on board, minimizing damage to people's lives and property, the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province requested the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Coast Guard Region 2, and the Vietnam Navy to direct functional forces to arrange vehicles and personnel to support emergency rescue.
