The peace-praying ceremony is an activity within the framework of the Van Xuan festival at Hai Thon temple - a national historical and cultural relic. This is an ancient temple over 300 years old, worshiping King Ly Nam De and Queen Do Thi Khuong. Van Xuan festival takes place from the 10th to the 12th of the second lunar month every year to commemorate the national hero Ly Bi (also known as Ly Bon) who once stopped on this land to build a fort, recruit soldiers and raise the flag of insurrection to defeat the invaders, establishing the Van Xuan country in 544. The festival has many activities imbued with folk cultural identity such as palanquin procession, male and female mandarins' worship, sword dance and traditional games such as tug of war, wrestling, and chess.
