Solving more than 119,000 backlogged driving license exam applications in Ho Chi Minh City

This is also the time when Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Police urgently resolve more than 119,000 applications for testing and granting driving licenses that have been left behind during the task transfer process, including 48,000 applications for testing and granting driving licenses for cars and 71,000 applications for testing and granting driving licenses for motorbikes.

Lieutenant Colonel Truong Tran Minh Tuan, Head of the Road Motor Vehicle Driving License Examination Team (PC08), said that Circular 12 of the Ministry of Public Security stipulates that the driving test content for classes A1, A and B1 includes both theory and practice in the form. In case of failing the theory test, the candidate can continue to take the practical test and vice versa. The candidate can reserve the results to retake the failed part of the test within 1 year. The new regulation of the Ministry of Public Security is assessed to help save time and costs for both the candidates and the testing organization.

After 2 pilot testing sessions on May 14, from May 20 onwards, PC08 will organize testing sessions and issue driving licenses continuously every day. According to the plan, from now until May 31, there will be 2 testing councils organized every day, including 1 car testing council and 1 motorbike testing council. On May 29, there will be 1 more testing council organized.

With the above progress, it is expected that in about 5 months, the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Police will resolve all 119,000 pending applications for driving tests and licenses. However, depending on the actual situation, the Traffic Police can increase the number of tests per day.

Previously, the Traffic Police Department issued a set of 600 questions for testing road motor vehicle drivers, which will be applied from June 1, 2025. In the set of 600 driving license test questions, there are 60 questions on handling serious traffic safety situations, each test will have 1 question on the above situation. Candidates choosing the wrong answer for this question will be considered as failing, and the theory test will not meet the requirements.
