Seminar on Digital Transformation of Journalism in Nam Dinh Province

On the afternoon of August 18, in Nam Dinh province, Ninh Binh Newspaper, Nam Dinh Newspaper and Ha Nam Newspaper jointly organized a professional seminar with the theme "Digital transformation of journalism".

Attending the conference were comrades: Bui Ngoc Quang, member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Ninh Binh Newspaper; Le Hong Ky, member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Ha Nam Newspaper; Hoang Thi Hoai Phuong, member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nam Dinh Newspaper; Deputy Editors-in-Chief and more than 80 officers, reporters and editors of the 3 units.

In an open and frank atmosphere, the staff, editors and reporters of Ninh Binh Newspaper, Ha Nam Newspaper and Nam Dinh Newspaper outlined the digital transformation situation, especially the promotion of technology application in press operations at the units; clarified difficulties and obstacles and shared many experiences in the implementation process.

Accordingly, digital transformation and technology application in journalism activities are identified by the three units as key tasks in the current period. Many solutions have been implemented by Ninh Binh Newspaper, Ha Nam Newspaper and Nam Dinh Newspaper such as: using CMS system to send and edit news and articles; effectively managing and exploiting electronic newspaper websites; developing new press publications such as: Infographic, E-Magazine, Podcast... developing multi-platform, multimedia journalism.

However, digital transformation is still a difficult problem for local Party newspapers. Speaking at the seminar, Comrade Bui Ngoc Quang, Member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Ninh Binh Newspaper emphasized: The biggest difficulty in digital transformation of the press today is the difference between modern electronic newspapers and traditional printed newspapers, from the working process, accessing and processing information to editing and publishing...

In particular, each officer, reporter, and editor needs to improve their awareness and habits of modern journalism. In addition to the training and development of the unit, each officer and reporter needs to promote a proactive and self-study spirit to master technology and useful applications to support their journalism activities.

To promote digital transformation in press activities at the three units, he suggested a number of issues that need special attention, such as: database; application of utility software to reduce labor and increase efficiency; building a content distribution mechanism; analyzing readers to innovate content, form and appropriate approach.

Organizing seminars and professional exchanges is a practical activity according to the coordination regulations signed between Ninh Binh Newspaper, Nam Dinh Newspaper and Ha Nam Newspaper for the period 2022-2025. Thereby creating conditions for cadres, reporters, editors, and workers of the three units to exchange, learn, and exchange experiences, improve their sense of responsibility and professional skills, and meet the integration and development trend of journalism in general.
