Overview of the workshop on implementing ESG using science and technology

On the afternoon of November 26, Dan Tri newspaper organized a workshop on “Implementing ESG with science and technology - From awareness to action” in Hanoi . The workshop is a satellite event within the framework of the Vietnam ESG Forum 2025 with the theme "Science and technology and driving force for sustainable development".

Attending the event were Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha - Deputy Minister of Home Affairs ; Journalist Pham Tuan Anh - Editor-in-Chief of Dan Tri newspaper, along with a large team of leading experts and representatives of many pioneering enterprises, prestigious organizations, and journalists with experience in digital transformation and artificial intelligence (AI).

In her opening speech, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Nguyen Thi Ha affirmed that this is a very special event with practical significance in the series of activities of the Vietnam ESG Forum 2025 organized by Dan Tri newspaper.

Regarding ESG content, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Ha said that the choice of this year's theme - "Science, technology and sustainable development drivers" - demonstrates strategic vision, while keeping up with global transformation trends and being consistent with the country's development orientation.

The topic is also closely linked to current issues in economic, political, security, defense and social life.

"Currently, ESG is no longer a trend or a choice, but has become a development standard and a vital requirement for businesses and organizations. Thus, ESG is meaningful to both sectors: businesses and state management agencies," said Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Ha.

From the perspective of State management, the Ministry of Home Affairs is well aware that promoting sustainable development cannot be separated from administrative reform, modernizing the civil service and improving the quality of cadres, civil servants and public employees. ESG, in the end, is not only a standard for enterprises but also a measure of national governance capacity, operational capacity and social responsibility of the public apparatus.

Sharing at the workshop "Implementing ESG with science and technology - From data to action", Prof. Dr. Mac Quoc Anh - Vice President and General Secretary of the Hanoi Association of Small and Medium Enterprises, Director of the Institute of Economics and Enterprise Development - emphasized that ESG is becoming a vital requirement for Vietnamese enterprises in the new period.

Also at the event, Mr. Ta Huu Thanh - Commercial Director, Vietjet Aviation Joint Stock Company - said that over the years, the enterprise has consistently pursued a sustainable development strategy, taking science and technology as the foundation and ESG as the main orientation in the operation process.

This is a long-term orientation, helping Vietjet build its position as a modern airline, pioneering innovation and quickly adapting to global trends.

Ms. Do Thi Thu Phuong, Deputy Head of the Department of Environmental Safety and Sustainable Development - Vietnam National Energy Industry Group (PVN) with the presentation: "Vietnam National Energy Industry Group implements ESG with science and technology - from data to action".

Dr. Dinh Viet Sang - Vice Principal of the School of Information and Communication Technology - Hanoi University of Science and Technology with a speech on the topic of ESG in the AI ​​era.

Mr. Ha Huy Ngoc - Director of the Center for Research on Local and Territorial Economic Strategy Policy (Vietnam and World Economic Institute) - with a presentation on the topic of ESG Transformation from the perspective of localities and businesses.

The presentations attracted the attention of many guests attending the event.

The workshop then moved into a panel discussion, where experts discussed solutions to help businesses turn digital transformation and data governance into measurable ESG outcomes, at a reasonable cost and with clear effectiveness.

Dr. Le Thai Ha - Executive Director of VinFuture Foundation (Fund for a Green Future) - moderated the discussion session.

The legislative session was organized with the desire to create a space for frank, open and substantive exchange between experts, policymakers and the business community.

The four speakers, Dr. Mac Quoc Anh, Dr. Ha Huy Ngoc, Mr. Ta Huu Thanh and Mr. Nguyen Duc Minh, had open debates and exchanges through questions sent to the program.
