At 9:30 p.m. on April 10, Vietnam time, the world gold price skyrocketed to 3,150 USD/ounce, a shocking increase of nearly 70 USD/ounce compared to the previous session. In just the last 2 sessions, the gold price jumped from 3,000 USD/ounce to 3,150 USD/ounce, a total increase of 150 USD/ounce (an increase of about 4.7 million VND/tael).
This can be said to be a shocking increase in the world gold price. Notably, after only 2 sessions of strong increase, the gold price is about to reach the record peak of 3,157 USD/ounce set last week. The demand for gold investment as a safe haven continues to push the precious metal up, despite strong profit-taking pressure from the market.
Gold prices skyrocketed tonight
After continuously maintaining the $3,000/ounce mark, gold prices have rebounded. According to analysts, concerns about the continuing US-China trade war have caused investors to seek gold. Meanwhile, the latest US CPI report showed lower-than-expected inflation, reinforcing the view that the Federal Reserve (FED) may soon cut interest rates. The US interest rate cut has weakened the USD, benefiting gold prices.
By tonight, the USD index on the international market lost another 1.6%, falling deeply to 101.3 points, the lowest since September 2024.
Meanwhile, the price of SJC gold bars at the end of the day was listed by businesses at VND100.6 million/tael for buying and VND103.6 million/tael for selling, a total increase of about VND1.7 million/tael compared to yesterday. The price of 99.99 gold rings and jewelry gold of all kinds was traded at around VND99.8 million/tael for buying and VND102.8 million/tael for selling, an increase of about VND2.4 million/tael compared to yesterday.
