General Secretary and President To Lam greets revolutionary leader, General Raul Castro

Paying respects to General Raul Castro, General Secretary andPresident To Lam affirmed that he will inherit and continue to strengthen the special friendship, comprehensive cooperation and solidarity with the Cuban people.

According to the special correspondent of VNA, on the morning of September 27 local time, within the framework of the State visit to Cuba, General Secretary and President To Lam paid a courtesy call to General Raul Castro, the leader of the Cuban revolution. Also attending the reception on the Cuban side was First Secretary and President Miguel Diaz Canel Bermudez.

General Secretary and President To Lam expressed his pleasure at meeting Raul Castro again, and informed him of the main contents of his talks with First Secretary and President Miguel Diaz Canel Bermudez and his meetings with National Assembly Chairman Esteban Lazo Hernandez and Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz.

General Secretary and President To Lam shared that both sides assessed the visit as a great success, achieving many practical results; political trust and close ties between the two Parties, two countries and two peoples were consolidated and tightened.

The two sides agreed on comprehensive cooperation directions in all fields, accordingly, party relations play a role as the political foundation and strategic orientation for bilateral relations; defense, security and foreign affairs cooperation is enhanced; economic, trade and investment relations are promoted, especially projects in the fields of rice production and energy.

General Secretary and President To Lam emphasized that Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro's support for Vietnam has become a symbol of the times and a precious legacy of Vietnam-Cuba relations; and thanked General Raul Castro for his concern, affection and important contributions to Vietnam and Vietnam-Cuba relations.

The General Secretary and President once again thanked the Cuban Party, State, people and comrade Raul Castro for their sympathy and special gestures upon the passing of the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, affirming that he will continue to inherit and strengthen the special friendship, comprehensive cooperation and solidarity with the Cuban people to overcome the current difficult period.

General Secretary and President To Lam introduced Vietnam's achievements after nearly 40 years of renovation, shared lessons learned in building socialism, and highly appreciated the efforts of the Party, State and people of Cuba to overcome difficulties and challenges, and implement the resolution of the 8th Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba.

General Raul Castro welcomed the visit of General Secretary and President To Lam, expressing his joy at the success of the visit. Comrade Raul Castro recalled his memories and deep impressions during his visits to Vietnam and to Vietnamese leaders of all generations; expressed his admiration for the heroic, resilient and indomitable Vietnamese people in the struggle to protect national independence and unify the country, believing that with that spirit and the right direction, the Party, State and people of Vietnam will continue to gain new achievements on the path of building socialism.

General Raul Castro highly appreciated Vietnam's innovation experiences, including the work of building a clean and strong Party, and welcomed Cuba's ability to refer to these experiences in the process of updating its economic and social development model.

Comrade Raul Castro asked First Secretary and President of Cuba Miguel Diaz Canel Bermudez and Cuban leaders to direct Cuban ministries and sectors to effectively implement the agreements reached during the visit, bringing practical benefits to the people of the two countries, for peace, stability and sustainable development in the two regions and the world.

On this occasion, General Secretary and President To Lam respectfully invited General Raul Castro to visit Vietnam again. Comrade Raul Castro happily accepted the invitation and sent his greetings and warm regards to the leaders of the Party, State and people of Vietnam; expressing his wish to visit Vietnam when the opportunity arises./.
