Accordingly, at the Ministry of National Defense Hall, General Secretary To Lam and Party and State leaders had a meeting with veteran revolutionary cadres, meritorious people, and exemplary policy families.

Co-chairing the meeting were Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia - Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission; Mr. Do Van Chien - Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

This event was jointly organized by the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, the Central Party Office and Hanoi City.

This is one of the activities on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of Southern Liberation and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).

Before this activity, General Secretary To Lam and Party and State leaders had meetings with police officers supporting the southern battlefield; met with representatives of veterans, former youth volunteers, and former militiamen who participated in the resistance war against the US to save the country.

Exactly half a century ago, at exactly 11:30 a.m. on April 30, 1975, our army entered Saigon and captured the Independence Palace. The 1975 Spring General Offensive and Uprising, culminating in the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, completely liberated the South and reunified the country, opening a new era for the Vietnamese people - the era of independence, unity and socialism.

The great victory of spring 1975 was not only a great military victory but also a shining symbol of patriotism, of the indomitable will and burning desire for freedom and peace of the Vietnamese people. It was a victory of justice, of national pride, an event with far-reaching influence on the international arena, attracting the attention and evaluation of many countries and international organizations.

Every step forward of our army and people in that historic battle resounded like an immortal epic, affirming the strength, will and unshakable belief of the Vietnamese people.

On the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), many key commemorative activities were organized, attracting the attention of the people.
