Malaysian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City paid a courtesy visit to provincial leaders

Malaysian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City - Firdauz Bin Othman paid a courtesy visit to the leaders of Vinh Long province.

Mr. Firdauz Bin Othman said: “This is my first business trip to the provinces and cities of Vietnam after the arrangement and merger of provinces and cities from July 1, 2025. The business trip is an opportunity for us to learn and identify the potential and opportunities for cooperation between Malaysia and Vinh Long province.”

Based on the long-standing friendly cooperation relationship between Malaysia and Vietnam, he realized that Malaysia and Vietnam, as well as Vinh Long province, have great potential for cooperation in the Halal industry and in the field of education .

The Consul General also said that Malaysia has had investment projects in the province and based on the province's great potential in marine economy, renewable energy, agriculture, etc. Malaysian corporations, branches, and investors expressed their desire to cooperate and invest in the field of clean energy and renewable energy in Vietnam, as well as in Vinh Long province.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Lu Quang Ngoi expressed his pleasure to welcome the Consul General and the working delegation to visit and pay a courtesy visit to Vinh Long province.

The province currently has 16 enterprises exporting to Malaysia, 6 enterprises importing from Malaysia, 3 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects of Malaysian investors, with a total registered capital of nearly 2.6 billion USD, ranking first in the total registered investment capital in the province. In the first 9 months of 2025, the total two-way trade turnover reached more than 26.8 million USD, of which exports increased by more than 16.8% and imports increased by more than 10% over the same period last year. Malaysia is one of the province's stable and potential trade partners.

“In the coming time, the province will expand and deepen cooperation with Malaysia in the fields of economy, investment, trade, tourism and education; expand cooperation in Halal food production, renewable energy, etc. At the same time, attract more FDI projects of Malaysian enterprises to the province's industrial zones and clusters. Vinh Long commits to creating a favorable investment environment and accompanying Malaysian enterprises throughout the cooperation process,” affirmed Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Lu Quang Ngoi.
