In an interview on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in India, Mr. Lula said he wanted President Putin to attend the important event next year, adding that he himself planned to attend the BRICS meeting in Russia next year.

“I believe that Mr. Putin can easily go to Brazil,” Mr. Lula said. For various reasons, Mr. Putin has frequently skipped international meetings in recent times and was not present at the G20 Summit in Delhi this year.
On Saturday, the G20 nations adopted a consensus statement, calling on all sides to find solutions to help end the conflict between Russia and Ukraine peacefully .
