This is the first visit of Philippine President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr. to Vietnam since taking office.
The visit takes place in the context of the Vietnam-Philippines friendship and strategic partnership developing well in all fields.
Welcoming the delegation at Noi Bai International Airport were: Head of the Office of the President Le Khanh Hai; Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Do Hung Viet; Vietnamese Ambassador to the Philippines Lai Thai Binh; and representatives of several departments and functional agencies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Philippine delegation included: Mr. Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, Speaker of the House of Representatives; Mr. Enrique A. Manalo, Secretary of Foreign Affairs ; Mr. Francisco T. Laurel, Secretary of Agriculture; Mr. Alfredo E. Pascual, Secretary of Trade and Investment; Mr. Cheloy Velicaria Garafil, Chief of the Presidential Liaison Office; Mr. Eduardo M. Ano, Chairman of the National Security Council; Mr. Antonio Ernesto F. Lagdameo Jr., Special Adviser to the President; Mr. Frederick D. Go, Presidential Adviser on Investment and Economic Affairs; Mr. Meynardo LB. Montealegre, Philippine Ambassador to Vietnam; Mr. Han Leo Cacdac, Undersecretary of the Department of Labor and Immigration; Mr. Victorino Mapa Manalo, Chairman of the National Commission on Culture and the Arts; Mr. Romeo Lumagui Jr., Commissioner of the Bureau of Internal Revenue; Mr. Ronie Gil L. Gavan, Commander of the Philippine Coast Guard; Mr. Maynard S.Ngu, Special Envoy of the President.
During the visit, Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is expected to attend an official welcoming ceremony and hold talks with President Vo Van Thuong, meet with key Vietnamese leaders, and participate in other activities.
