NBC News reported that the Kremlin said that one day before the Russia-US summit in Alaska on August 15 (local time), President Putin convened an advisory meeting to inform about the progress of negotiations on the Ukraine conflict.
The Russian leader praised the Trump administration's strong and sincere efforts to end the Ukrainian conflict and reach an agreement that would benefit all parties involved in it.
"These efforts are aimed at creating conditions for lasting peace between countries as well as in the whole world," the Kremlin leader said.

President Putin's assistant, Mr. Yuri Ushakov, said on August 14 that the direct talks between President Putin and President Trump will begin in Alaska at 11:30 a.m. on August 15 (local time), after which the two Russian and American leaders will hold a joint press conference. The White House confirmed this information.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told Fox News that President Trump "wants to try every option to try to end this conflict peacefully."
The high-level Russian delegation will include Russian President Putin, Yuri Ushakov, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Defense Minister Andrei Belousov, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov and Russian Special Envoy Kirill Dmitriev.
Regarding the agenda, Mr. Ushakov said that the focus of the talks will be on discussing the conflict in Ukraine. However, he added that the goals of ensuring peace and security as well as the most urgent international and regional issues of the day, bilateral relations, etc. will also be discussed.
