Hulk Hogan dies at age 71. |
According to police, Hogan suffered cardiac arrest at his home in Clearwater, Florida, on the morning of July 24. Despite being given emergency treatment and rushed to the hospital, he died just an hour later.
Shortly after the news was confirmed, US President Donald Trump posted an emotional message on social media. Trump called Hogan “a great friend” and praised his inspirational speech at the Republican National Convention last year: “Hulk Hogan was always strong, smart, but most importantly, had a big heart. His speech at the RNC was one of the most memorable moments. He left a huge cultural mark. Our deepest condolences to his wife, Sky, and family. Hulk Hogan will be missed!”
WWE also released an official statement: “We are deeply saddened to learn that WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has passed away. As one of the most iconic faces in pop culture, Hogan helped WWE reach global prominence in the 1980s. WWE extends its condolences to his family, friends and fans.”
WWE CEO Triple H paid tribute: “WWE would not be where it is today without superstars like Hogan. He was a role model and a great figure, inspiring millions of people around the world .”
Ric Flair, a close friend and longtime colleague, emotionally shared: “Hulk was with me through the toughest times, even praying by my bedside when I had only a 2% chance of living. No one can replace him. Rest in peace, my friend.”
Hulk Hogan is one of the greatest wrestling superstars in history, helping to turn WWE into a global phenomenon with the famous “Hulkamania” movement. He was honored in the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005.
