According to RT , simmering tensions between President Trump and Tesla CEO Elon Musk over the federal tax and spending bill escalated into a heated exchange of words on social media on June 5.
The conflict between the two sides began days ago when billionaire Elon Musk harshly criticized the Republican super bill as "misguided", warning that it would further inflate the US's $36.2 trillion national debt.

Writing on social network X, billionaire Musk said that Mr. Trump was ungrateful: "If it weren't for me, Mr. Trump would have lost the election, the Democrats would have controlled the House of Representatives, and the Republican majority in the Senate would be 51-49. How ungrateful."
Billionaire Musk also responded "Yes" to a post on social network X, saying that Mr. Trump should be impeached.
Meanwhile, President Trump said he was "very disappointed" in billionaire Musk, claiming that the Tesla CEO's opposition to his "Great Big Bill" stemmed from cutting the EV tax credit.
"Elon is exhausted. I asked him to leave. I revoked the EV order that forced people to buy electric cars even if they didn't want to," President Trump wrote on the Truth Social platform .
“The easiest way to save money in our budget, billions and billions of dollars, is to end government subsidies and contracts for Elon Musk,” Trump said in another post.
"Look, Elon and I had a great relationship. I don't know if we have that anymore. I was very surprised and disappointed with Elon Musk," President Trump told reporters during a meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in the Oval Office of the White House on June 5.
