At noon on May 14, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training announced the number of candidates registering for the first choice to take the entrance exam to public grade 10 for the 2025-2026 school year.
Based on these statistics and the enrollment quota for each high school announced by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training in April 2025, the top schools with the lowest "competition" rates include: Ngo Gia Tu High School (0.25), Dien Hong Secondary and High School (0.27), Nguyen Van Linh High School (0.30), Phong Phu High School (0.37)...
Last year, Nguyen Van Linh High School had the lowest competition rate in Ho Chi Minh City with only 0.21. However, this year, Ngo Gia Tu High School ranked first with a rate of 0.25.
A competition ratio of less than 1 means that the number of admission quotas is greater than the number of registered wishes, which means a higher chance of admission for candidates.
Specifically, the top 10 high schools with the easiest admission to grade 10 in Ho Chi Minh City in 2025 are as follows:
STT | School | Target | NV 1 | Proportion |
1 | Ngo Gia Tu High School | 630 | 160 | 0.25 |
2 | Dien Hong Secondary and High School | 450 | 123 | 0.27 |
3 | Nguyen Van Linh High School | 675 | 203 | 0.30 |
4 | Phong Phu High School | 675 | 251 | 0.37 |
5 | Long Truong High School | 675 | 261 | 0.39 |
6 | Nguyen Thi Dieu High School | 765 | 305 | 0.40 |
7 | Nguyen Van Tang High School | 810 | 343 | 0.42 |
8 | Le Thi Hong Gam High School | 405 | 172 | 0.42 |
9 | Tran Huu Trang High School | 360 | 156 | 0.43 |
10 | Trung Lap High School | 585 | 254 | 0.43 |
It is expected that from 5pm this afternoon to 5pm on May 19, parents and students can adjust their wishes. The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training notes that they can only adjust wishes, not add or remove candidates from the list.
The 10th grade exam in Ho Chi Minh City takes place on June 6-7. Candidates will take three subjects: Math, Literature and Foreign Language. The time for the Math and Literature tests is 120 minutes, and the Foreign Language test is 90 minutes. If applying to a specialized school, candidates will take an additional 150-minute specialized subject test.
The admission score for general classes is the total score of three subjects plus incentive and priority points (if any). For specialized classes, the formula is the total score of the three subjects above with coefficient 1, plus the specialized subject exam score with coefficient 2.
For the continuingeducation center, Thanh An Secondary and High School of Can Gio district, admission is based on academic records.
