Will the new generation Toyota Corolla Cross have much in common with the Camry?

First launched in 2020, the Toyota Corolla Cross SUV quickly became one of the Japanese brand's flagship models in many regions around the world . According to Toyota's familiar product development roadmap, the next generation of the Corolla Cross will likely be officially launched in 2027.

Although no test prototypes have been discovered yet, famous designer Theottle recently attracted attention when he released a sketch predicting the design of the new 2027 Toyota Corolla Cross model.

According to Theottle’s sketch, the new generation Toyota Corolla Cross could carry the modern design language that appeared on the Urban Cruiser EV electric SUV. The highlight at the front of the car is the “hammerhead” design – a style that has been applied on the new Camry and Prius.

The 2027 Toyota Corolla Cross uses slim LED headlights and a minimalist grille, creating a sharp, modern feel. The body has many similarities with the C-HR model, with many prominent sporty lines, while the rear of the car is more square to optimize practical space. The taillights are also redesigned in a modern direction.

Not only the exterior changes, the cabin of the new generation Corolla Cross is also expected to be transformed with a series of valuable upgrades. A larger central screen, a new interface and advanced connectivity features may appear, bringing a comfortable experience to users.

In particular, advanced ADAS driving assistance features are also expected to be improved, helping the new generation Toyota Corolla Cross SUV compete more strongly in the B-segment. The car is likely to still use the TNGA-C chassis but will be tweaked to optimize performance.

Under the hood, Toyota is said to be developing an all-new 1.5-litre petrol engine, with potential variants including turbo, hybrid or even plug-in hybrid. This variety would not only provide superior power but also ensure fuel economy – a factor that makes the Toyota brand.

The Toyota Corolla Cross was launched in 2020 and is widely distributed in different versions depending on the market. From 2024, this model will start to have a mid-life update (facelift) in some countries, including Vietnam. Meanwhile, in Japan, the upgraded version is expected to appear in May 2025.
