Hilux is a car that inherits many advantages of Toyota models. According to many professional mechanics, Toyota Hilux in Vietnam is highly appreciated for its engine durability, gearbox and other amenities. Hilux rarely has problems and requires little regular maintenance. 
This is the strength that helps Hilux maintain its position in the used pickup truck segment globally as well as in Vietnam. The number of new Toyota Hilux imported to Vietnam has decreased sharply since the middle of last year until now, even in some months dealers could not sell any cars. The Hilux sold in 2022 were all manufactured from 2021.
The scarcity of supply has led to a sudden increase in the price of used Toyota Hilux cars in the used car market. According to research in the used car market, the Toyota Hilux 2.8 version 2018 - 2019 is being sold at a price ranging from 760 - 780 million VND.
Meanwhile, the high-end Toyota Hilux 2.8 version 2020 - 2021 has a price ranging from 850 - 900 million VND. Accordingly, this price is nearly 100 million VND higher than the Ford Ranger Wildtrak of the same generation.
After about a year of disappearing from Vietnam, Toyota Hilux quietly returned this March when official vehicle information appeared on Toyota Vietnam's homepage. This time, Toyota Hilux 2023 is only distributed with a single version, 4x2 AT.
The new price of this version is 852 million VND, an increase of nearly 180 million VND compared to the old version. However, the dealer said that the car will be upgraded in terms of equipment to match the higher selling price.
Toyota Hilux is one of the earliest pickup models to enter the Vietnamese market and is quite popular with consumers because of its modern appearance, high durability, and easy-to-replace and repair spare parts. In the Vietnamese market, Toyota Hilux was once the second best-selling pickup model, just behind the Ford Ranger.
