According to the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, these 50 teachers have left their mark on the journey of building, innovating and developing the city's education after the country's reunification.
Gratitude to early stage teachers
In the above list, there are many people who are still working, but there are also those who have passed away, but the educational legacy they left behind continues to be inherited and promoted.
Among the 50 typical faces are individuals who are "originating" in the city's education sector.
For example, Mr. Luong Le Dong, the first director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City after the reunification. Although he only held the position for a short period of 1975-1976 during the military administration period, he contributed to shaping the city's educational system during a particularly difficult period.
Or Mr. Bui Thanh Khiet, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City from 1976 to 1978, is also a special case. Mr. Khiet participated in the liberation army, was arrested and imprisoned, but still maintained his revolutionary spirit.
After studying and researching in the Soviet Union and returning to the South, he held many important positions in the army and revolutionary government. After April 30, 1975, Mr. Bui Thanh Khiet was a standing member of the Saigon - Gia Dinh Military Management Committee, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education before being transferred to Hanoi to hold the position of Deputy Minister of Education.
Mr. Le Quang Vinh, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City in 1978-1979, who was a death row inmate in the "tiger cage" of Con Dao for 15 years.
After 1975, he was assigned many important responsibilities, from Director of the Department of Education and Training to Head of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs.
Notably, Ms. Truong Thi Hong - Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City (1981-1990) - was also the only female director of the department in the past 50 years.
Teachers of today's generation
This list also recognizes the contributions of many teachers and administrators currently working at high schools in the city.
We can mention Mr. Do Quoc Anh Triet, teacher at Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted, with many achievements in guiding students to participate in international science and technology competitions.
Teachers who have inspired generations of students include: Mr. Nguyen Van Cai - Vice Principal of Quang Trung High School, voted as "Outstanding Young Citizen of Ho Chi Minh City"; Mr. Tran Tuan Anh - Civics teacher at Colette Middle School, famous for his touching moral lessons, as "Outstanding Young Citizen of Ho Chi Minh City".
Many other famous teachers include Mr. Nguyen Bac Dung - former Principal of Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted, Mr. Ho Phu Bac - former Head of the Department of Examination and Education Quality Assessment (Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City)...
