Ho Chi Minh City announces the number of candidates registering for the 10th grade public school entrance exam

Accordingly, the whole city has 76,435 candidates applying for regular grade 10, 5,550 candidates applying for specialized grade 10, and 1,169 candidates applying for integrated grade 10 in the 2025-2026 school year. From the above data, parents and students will consider, if necessary, changing their 10th grade admission wishes. The time to change wishes is from now until 5:00 p.m. on May 19, 2025. Each candidate is allowed to register 3 wishes for regular 10th grade, 2 wishes for specialized 10th grade, 3 wishes for integrated 10th grade in the 2025-2026 school year.

The wishes are arranged in order of priority from top to bottom. Candidates who are admitted to a wish must study that wish and cannot change the order or content.

It is known that candidates will take 3 exams, including: literature, math and foreign language (foreign language 1 is being studied at school). Candidates taking the exam for specialized grade 10 will take the 4th subject, which is the specialized subject.

Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City Departmentof Education and Training announced that it would enroll 70,070 students in public 10th grade for the 2025-2026 school year. This year, the number of 9th grade students expected to graduate from junior high school is 88,210 students. Thus, the rate of junior high school graduates entering public 10th grade this year is 79%. While last year, this rate was only 65%.

According to predictions, the entrance exam for grade 10 this year is quite "easy". However, finding a place in a specialized grade 10 class is quite stressful, because this year 4 high schools: Nguyen Thuong Hien, Gia Dinh, Mac Dinh Chi, Nguyen Huu Huan do not enroll in specialized grade 10 classes.

Ho Chi Minh City currently has only 3 specialized schools: Le Hong Phong, Tran Dai Nghia and Gifted High School enrolling specialized 10th graders.
