The Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board said that on April 26, the project to expand the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway (from An Phu intersection to Ring Road 2) will begin construction.
The project has a total length of 3.2 km, with a complete scale of 8 lanes. Of which, the road section is 2.19 km long, 36 m wide, and expanded 4.75 m on each side.
The expanded bridge section includes 2 Muong Kenh bridges and Do Xuan Hop overpass, each side is 5.25 m wide, about 929 m long and 37 m wide.

The project has a total investment of 938 billion VND from the Ho Chi Minh City budget. The Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board was assigned as the project investor.
Currently, the road leading to the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway often experiences traffic jams due to overload.
Statistics from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport show that since its inauguration in 2016, traffic volume has continuously increased (an average of 11.12% per year).
The number of vehicles in circulation has exceeded the capacity of the road section leading from An Phu intersection to Ring Road 2, which is designed to reach about 50,000 CPUs/day and night by 2025 (about 50,000 vehicles/day and night - calculated according to the conversion unit using 5-seat cars as the standard).
Therefore, investment in expanding the road section from An Phu intersection to Ring Road 2 from 4 lanes to 8 lanes is very urgent to connect to Long Thanh International Airport and solve the current traffic congestion.
