The purpose is to promptly detect, prevent and eliminate counterfeit products of unknown origin, ensuring consumer safety.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health has just sent an official dispatch to the People's Committees of 168 wards, communes, and towns, as well as medical examination and treatment facilities and pharmaceutical businesses in the area, requesting them to proactively check the list of products being traded or used at the unit, including pharmacies and other facilities.

Units need to ensure that they do not trade or use counterfeit goods or goods of unknown origin, and strictly follow the prescribed purchasing process, only using products with full invoices and documents, and legally allowed to circulate.

For private pharmaceutical and medical establishments, the Department also requires careful review, only doing business within the licensed scope and absolutely not using goods of unknown origin.

In addition, the Department of Health requested local People's Committees to widely notify businesses and people not to buy, sell or use counterfeit goods that have been discovered, and at the same time advise people to only buy medicine at legal pharmaceutical businesses.

Public awareness raising activities have also been enhanced to join hands in the fight against counterfeit and poor quality goods.

In case of detecting products suspected of being fake, of unknown origin or not yet permitted for circulation, units must promptly report to the local People's Committee and the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health for timely handling.

Previously, on July 1, Ho Chi Minh City Police temporarily detained Vo Thanh Tam, his wife Ngo Anh Hong (Director of My Trinh Cosmetics Company Limited) and 15 others for the act of "Producing and trading in counterfeit medicines and disease prevention drugs".

Through inspection, the authorities discovered that employees of this company were producing and storing many fake products such as Con O balm, Thai moisturizer, Thai old man oil, etc. These products were labeled as foreign in origin but were not on the list of products registered for circulation in Vietnam.

The investigation agency determined that this couple had organized the production of 7 types of medicated oil that were counterfeited under the Singaporean brand Eagle Brand Medicated Oil, with a total of more than 70,000 bottles sold, equivalent to a value of over 6 billion VND.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health affirmed that it will continue to coordinate with functional units to strictly control and prevent counterfeit goods, protecting the rights and health of local people.
