What room temperature is good for sleeping?
Temperature affects the body's ability to cool itself. Dr. Chris Winter (USA) explains: "If the room is too cold, we will have difficulty keeping warm, making it more difficult to sleep. Conversely, if the room is too hot, it will also negatively affect sleep."
Sleeping in a room that is too hot or too cold can disrupt your sleep, leading to or worsening insomnia symptoms. Ultimately, as your body struggles to regulate its temperature throughout the night, REM sleep (which typically occurs about 70 to 90 minutes after you first close your eyes and enter stage 1 of the sleep cycle) is reduced and wakefulness is increased. This essentially disrupts your deep sleep cycles. So, if you don't want to toss and turn constantly, keep the temperature between 20 and 22 degrees Celsius, according to Women's Health magazine (USA).

To sleep better every night
Besides room temperature, there are many other factors that affect your sleep. Dr. Winter suggests some ways to get a better night's sleep.
Consider a cooling pillow : There are times when you can't adjust the room temperature, so a cooling pillow can help you feel cooler, leading to deeper sleep.
Lifestyle changes : To improve sleep quality, you can exercise more, stick to a consistent sleep schedule, eat selectively, avoid caffeine and alcohol before bedtime, create a comfortable sleep environment such as dark, quiet and cool enough, and limit phone use before bedtime.
Warm up before bed : You can take a warm bath or soak yourself a few hours before bed. After the body goes through the warming process, the natural cooling process will be initiated, thereby promoting deeper sleep.
