Ho Chi Minh City urges restaurants, hotels, and supermarkets to let tourists use restrooms

(NLDO) – Restaurants, hotels, food service establishments, supermarkets, post offices ... are encouraged to allow tourists and residents to use public toilets.


On the morning of December 27, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism coordinated with the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, the People's Committee of District 7 and related departments and agencies to organize the launching ceremony of the program "Each tourism service business unit is a friendly destination". This is one of the activities to implement the Project "Improving the quantity and quality of public toilets in the city in the period of 2024-2025".

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, this program aims to build the city's image as a friendly, safe and professional tourist destination, thereby improving service quality and promoting the sustainable development of the tourism industry.

Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism in coordination with the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, District 7 People's Committee and related departments and branches organized the launching ceremony of the program "Each tourism service business unit is a friendly destination".

The program "Each tourism service business unit is a friendly destination" is designed to encourage businesses, organizations and individuals in fields such as tourism, restaurants, hotels, transportation and related industries to apply and maintain friendly and professional service standards, bringing the best experience to tourists.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, emphasized that this program is an important part of the city's sustainable tourism development project for the period 2025-2030. This is not only a call for businesses to join hands in building a professional business environment but also demonstrates the city's commitment to enhancing tourism experiences, promoting the unique culture and friendliness of Ho Chi Minh City people.

The city will also issue a set of evaluation criteria "Each tourism service business unit is a friendly destination", with specific standards on products, services, service attitude, environmental protection and responsibility to the community.

Notably, within the framework of the Project "Improving the quantity and quality of public toilets in the period of 2024-2025", businesses and service establishments such as restaurants, hotels, gas stations, shopping malls, supermarkets, bus stations, post offices, etc. are encouraged to agree to let tourists and residents use existing toilets at their establishments.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, in 2024, the number of international visitors to Ho Chi Minh City is estimated to reach 6 million, up 20% over the same period last year, while domestic tourists are estimated to reach 38 million, up 8.6%. These figures show the great potential of the tourism industry and the need for initiatives like the above to enhance the experience for visitors.
