Ho Chi Minh City businesses to strengthen connections and expand partnerships with Japanese businesses, especially Hyogo Prefecture. This is the 7th forum within the framework of cooperation between the two localities since the signing of the Letter of Intent in 2007.
Speaking at the forum, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Loc Ha emphasized: Ho Chi Minh City identifies green transformation and digital transformation as breakthrough driving forces for the new development phase. The city has established a Green Transformation Working Group and issued a Green Development Strategy Framework to 2030, with a vision to 2050, with the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 10% by 2030 and achieving net zero emissions by 2050.
The volatile world context and the trend of restructuring the global supply chain are posing new requirements for sustainable growth. Ho Chi Minh City aims to become a regional
economic , financial, high-tech industrial, logistics and marine tourism center, with the foundation of digital transformation, green transformation and innovation.
At the forum, Mr. Hattori Yohei - Deputy Governor of Hyogo Prefecture, affirmed that the cooperative relationship between the two localities is increasingly sustainable and effective. He said that Hyogo Prefecture will increase support for business connections, human resource development and create conditions for Vietnamese workers to work long-term in Japan. The internationalization of Kobe Airport in 2025 opens up the potential for establishing charter flights to Vietnam, promoting trade and human resource exchange.
Mr. Ono Masuo - Consul General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City, highly appreciated the development potential of the city after the expansion of its administrative boundaries. The city is emerging as a center for attracting investment, especially from Japan. He also mentioned the cooperation programs for training high-quality human resources between students of the University of Technology and Hyogo enterprises.
Representative of the Department of
Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City, Vo Minh Thanh, introduced the digital transformation strategy, aiming to turn the city into a smart city by 2030. With a complete digital infrastructure, the city has now operated 45 shared databases, provided 91 open data sets and achieved a high ranking in the provincial digital transformation index.
Regarding the digital economy, Ho Chi Minh City aims to reach a proportion of 25% of GRDP by 2025 and 40% by 2030, with centers such as the Quang Trung Software Park (QTSC) chain attracting many large technology enterprises.
Mr. Pham Binh An - Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Institute for Development Studies said: The city is oriented to transform its growth model to a green, circular and digital economy. Priority sectors include renewable energy, public transport, high-tech industry and green urban areas. The program "For a Green Can Gio" is being implemented with the goal of becoming a model of a "net-zero" urban area in the next 5 years.
