Hue City prepares to simultaneously deploy resettlement areas for high-speed railway project

(Chinhphu.vn) - The entire Hue City is expected to have 4 investment projects in resettlement areas and cemeteries to serve the site clearance work for the North-South High-Speed Railway project with a total estimated investment of about 1,419,608 billion VND.

According to the Hue City People's Committee, the North-South high-speed railway project is a project of special national significance, receiving the attention and direction of the Party Central Committee, the Politburo and the entire political system.

In particular, site clearance work in localities where the railway passes through, including Hue City, plays an important role so that the project can be implemented according to the progress directed by the leaders of the Party, National Assembly and Government.

Pursuant to the conclusion announcement No. 213/TB-VPCP dated May 4, 2025 and conclusion announcement No. 335/TB-VPCP dated June 28, 2025 of the Government Office , Hue City has urgently established a city-level Steering Committee headed by the City Party Secretary to carry out the project site clearance work; directing departments, branches, and localities to review.

Thereby, the entire City plans to implement 4 investment projects in resettlement areas and cemeteries to serve the site clearance work of the North-South High-Speed Railway project, with a total estimated investment of about 1,419,608 billion VND.

According to the Hue City Department of Finance, through a review up to July 10, the project section through Hue City has more than 8,100 households affected, of which nearly 900 households have to relocate. The total land area for the project is about 825 hectares. Currently, the city has directed the relevant agencies to conduct a specific review to deploy the construction of resettlement areas.

Accordingly, in order to ensure that the resettlement areas and cemeteries serving the site clearance for the North-South high-speed railway project can start construction on August 19 as directed by the Government, the Hue City People's Committee has submitted a report to the City People's Council to advance the local budget for implementation.

At a recent meeting, Chairman of Hue City People's Committee Nguyen Van Phuong requested departments, branches and localities to simultaneously deploy resettlement areas to be ready for site clearance. Based on the planned route, localities will urgently review and make detailed plans to ensure the completion of all site handover work for the high-speed railway project before the end of 2026. At the same time, they will urgently complete the procedures according to regulations to start and start construction of a number of resettlement areas on August 19 under the direction of the Prime Minister.

Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Phuong emphasized the spirit of implementation must be 'urgent but methodical and thorough', fast but must fully comply with regulations, ensuring long-term effectiveness and stability. Departments, branches and authorities at all levels need to promote a sense of responsibility, closely coordinate to successfully carry out assigned tasks, making an important contribution to the overall success of the national key project.
