Localities in Hue City continue to implement phase 2 of the domestic solid waste classification program.

At the training session, delegates were informed of the plan and method for organizing the implementation of the program of classifying solid waste at source in the city until 2025 (phase 2 is implemented in 36 wards and communes), and shared experiences in implementing propaganda activities and guiding waste classification at source that were implemented in phase 1 in 2022 to continue to implement better in the coming time.

On this occasion, WWF-Vietnam donated 139 sets of waste sorting bins to the Hue City People's Committee to implement the program's phase 2. Drawing on experience from the implementation of phase 1, the new design of the waste storage bins replaced the white recyclable waste bin with a green house for recyclable waste; kept the orange hazardous waste bin and the gray glass waste bin.

In addition, the city plans to supply solid waste to Phu Son Waste-to-Energy Incineration Plant and organize the classification of solid waste at source into 3 groups, including: the group with the potential for reuse and recycling; the group of hazardous waste and the remaining waste group (excluding construction waste and animal carcasses).

At the same time, assign responsibility to the People's Committees of wards and localities where garbage bins are located to strengthen the management of recyclable waste at the green house, encourage localities to actively promote the implementation of waste classification at source, aiming to build Hue City green, clean, bright, and environmentally friendly.
