This activity is within the framework of Project 8 "Implementing gender equality and solving urgent issues for women and children" under the National Target Program Phase I (2021-2025) in 2025.
The activities are organized in many new and diverse forms to provide more information about the situation of human trafficking in the digital age, as well as to strengthen the commitment to support women's economic development to reduce the risk of unsafe migration and human trafficking. With two communication events, namely: White Ribbon Breakfast, strengthening connections to enhance women's economic empowerment with the theme "Joining hands to increase women's economic power to promote rights and prevent unsafe migration and human trafficking"; Community communication: "Raising awareness of human trafficking".
Ms. Nguyen Thuy Hien, Deputy Director of the Center for Women's Development, shared: “ The Center has focused on implementing activities to support women in economic development or economic empowerment for women, which is a fundamental solution, contributing to preventing the problem of unsafe labor migration and supporting victims of human trafficking to return and reintegrate into society sustainably. Increasing women's economic power not only helps them take control of their lives but also contributes to building a safer community where no one is left behind in efforts to prevent human trafficking. Preventing human trafficking is the responsibility of the whole society, not just women.”
Delegates from the Ministry of Public Security , the Department of Health, the Institute for Development Studies, the A Luoi District Women's Union and the Social Assistance Center - Peaceful House (called Peaceful House for short) shared practices, policies and lessons learned in creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for repatriated women.
More than 100 delegates attending the event expressed their strong commitment to coordinating and supporting victims of human trafficking, especially in the field of livelihood support for women in general. The delegates pledged to actively participate in awareness raising campaigns, connect and mobilize businesses to join hands to support women's start-ups, open up job opportunities, help them reintegrate into the community and build a stable life.
With the desire to enhance knowledge and prevention skills, and at the same time connect information and support services for women and children at risk of becoming victims of human trafficking, the program was implemented with the aim of not only disseminating knowledge but also promoting community responsibility in detecting - supporting - protecting victims of human trafficking, contributing to building a rapid, multi-sectoral, victim-centered response network right from the grassroots level. With the commitment of the local government representatives, the Hue City Women's Union and the Center for Women's Support, the program demonstrates the determination to join hands to fight against human trafficking and improve the self-protection capacity of women and children.
