Tra Co Communal House is a unique architectural work of art, closely associated with the history of land reclamation and settlement of Tra Co residents. In 2019, Tra Co Communal House Festival was recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage. By 2023, Tra Co Communal House was ranked as a special national relic by the Prime Minister.
Tra Co Communal House Traditional Festival is held annually to pay tribute to ancestors, arouse national pride, and awareness of preserving and promoting traditional cultural heritage. This is also an opportunity to promote the unique cultural values of Mong Cai to domestic and international friends.
This year's festival takes place over 4 days, from June 25 to 28, 2025 (from May 30 to June 3, At Ty year), with many rich ritual and festival activities.
The ceremony includes solemn rituals such as: the procession to welcome the god on the sea, the Moc Duc ceremony, the procession of the fruit tray and the magic lamp into the communal house, the procession of the Elephant to pay homage to the god, the Thinh Sinh ceremony, the An Vi ceremony, the green book calling ceremony, the ceremony of raising the funeral tree and the Thi On ceremony, the lamp sending ceremony...
The festival took place with many exciting folk games and unique cultural activities such as: "Mr. Elephant" contest, blindfolded drumming, painting contest... contributing to preserving and promoting the traditional values of our ancestors.
Mong Cai currently has 60 cultural relics and scenic spots, including 1 special national relic, 4 national relics, 12 provincial relics and 8 national intangible cultural heritages. These heritages are considered "cultural landmarks" that exist forever in the northeastern part of the country.
