Ho Chi Minh City has a super CT scanner with more than 100,000 slices, scanning the whole body in less than 2 seconds.

On the morning of July 2, Tam Anh General Hospital System operated a "super CT scanner" called Somatom Force VB30 by Siemens Healthineers (Germany), which can take more than 100,000 slices, is safe to use even for children, takes only 1-2 seconds to scan the whole body, and modern technology helps minimize radiation during the scan.

Mr. Fabian Martin Singer, CEO of Siemens Healthineers said, "The super CT machine" Somatom Force VB30 has many outstanding advantages. The scanning speed is very high, especially useful for patients with arrhythmia, tachycardia. The resolution, super thin slices, only 0.4mm, are useful for detecting small lesions in the body.

This “super machine” also has the ability to reduce radiation dose to the maximum, suitable for children, even newborns. Somatom Force VB30 is a generation of computed tomography (CT) scanners that surpass all slice limits, providing outstanding efficiency, detecting signs of pathology, lesions, and tumors thanks to image results accurate to the millimeter.

Speaking at the launch announcement, Dr. Ho Hoang Phuong, Director of the Center for Diagnostic Imaging and Interventional Radiology, Tam Anh General Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City, said that this "super CT machine" is the pinnacle of CT scanning technology, the clearest and fastest ever.

Thanks to that, it helps doctors identify and distinguish very early tumors, stroke risks, blood clots, atherosclerotic plaques, narrowed, blocked, aneurysmal blood vessel locations, abnormalities or damage to the liver, lungs, heart valves, heart muscle, bones and joints, urinary stones, etc.

Delegates attended the ribbon cutting ceremony and officially announced the use of the second "super CT machine" with more than 100,000 slices at Tam Anh Medical Center, District 7.

"This CT machine applies powerful AI to automatically process images with high accuracy, helping to mark and analyze human body anatomical landmarks, automatically recognize anatomical landmarks on films, and support doctors to quickly determine the location of organs, soft tissues, bones, and blood vessels. In particular, the software applies artificial intelligence (AI) to automatically calibrate and select the clearest and most useful images to help doctors diagnose quickly, conveniently, and more accurately, limiting the need for additional clinical tests to support diagnosis as before," informed Dr. Ho Hoang Phuong.

According to Associate Professor, Doctor, Doctor Tran Quang Binh, Professional Director of Tam Anh General Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City, the hospital has put into use a "super CT machine" with more than 100,000 slices in diagnostic indications for people, in various fields such as: cardiovascular, oncology, neurology, digestion, respiratory, orthopedic trauma, musculoskeletal, urology, gynecology, pediatrics... In particular, the hospital will apply very reasonable costs to support many patients.

The "super CT machine" with more than 100,000 slices was first put into use in Vietnam at Tam Anh General Hospital in Hanoi in February 2025. After only 4 months of operation, more than 4,500 cases have been screened and diagnosed early for dangerous diseases, from liver cancer, lung cancer, stroke risk, cerebral vascular malformations, coronary artery stenosis, heart valve disease, dangerous heart muscle... This " super machine" has technology to reduce X-ray dose by up to 85% compared to conventional CT, equipped with the ability to remove metal interference by up to 80%/...
