1. Social work is one of the three "pillars" of SGGP Newspaper. With a history of 50 years, supported by agencies, units, businesses and readers, SGGP Newspaper has organized many meaningful social and charity programs in many provinces and cities across the country. Among them, some programs are considered SGGP Newspaper's trademarks in the field of education such as Vo Truong Toan Award, "Good writing", Nguyen Van Huong scholarship and the program "Lighting up the faith - Overcoming difficulties to go to school".
In 1998, SGGP Newspaper came up with the idea of organizing an award to honor teachers. The award was named after Mr. Vo Truong Toan, a famous teacher of the old Saigon - Gia Dinh. Now, the Vo Truong Toan Award has become the city's annual award, held annually on the occasion of the Vietnamese Teachers' Day, November 20.
Continuing the activities, from 2023, the program "Lighting up the faith - Overcoming difficulties to go to school" of SGGP Newspaper has been formed and widely deployed across the country. This is a program of practical significance, taking care of the physical, intellectual and spiritual development of children in remote, isolated and extremely disadvantaged areas.
The program has brought a warm Mid-Autumn Festival to children in Can Tho City; to poor students in Lam Dong Province; spread the reading culture to Dong Khoi homeland; helped poor students in the Central coastal region; built classrooms at Lac An Secondary School (Tan Uyen, Ho Chi Minh City); built classrooms at Binh Khanh Secondary School (Dong Khoi Commune, Vinh Long Province); to a highland border commune (Meo Vac Commune, Ha Giang Province)...
The completed projects, the lit libraries, the scholarships handed to the children not only have material significance but also serve as deep spiritual encouragement, arousing the will to excel in learning. It is also a reminder of the shared responsibility to build a foundation of knowledge for future generations.
2. The program "Lighting up the faith - Overcoming difficulties to go to school" always chooses schools and school locations in remote, border and island areas to implement, taking care of even the smallest things for students.
Ms. Le Nhung, Deputy Director of the SGGP Newspaper's Media - Service - Event Center, said: "Every time we give gifts to the children, we have different emotions. Those are the clear eyes, joy, excitement, appreciation... with the smallest gifts such as stuffed animals, backpacks, libraries, bedrooms, computers... Those eyes have urged us to connect strongly and to do it long term!"
Ms. Bui Thi Hong Suong, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of SGGP Newspaper, shared: After more than 50 years of formation and development, for the team of SGGP Newspaper staff, programs for the community, for the development of society, especially for children, pupils and students with difficulties have always been focused on. We aim to care for children and focus on educational values, so that children in disadvantaged localities have the conditions to develop comprehensively in knowledge, physical and mental health. From there, we contribute to "Lighting up the faith", empowering the young generation to be confident, brave, and have solid knowledge in life and contribute more to the development of the country.
These are small pieces in the colorful life, needing timely cooperation, love and sharing to create a beautiful picture in life; that is also the cooperation for the career of educating people of SGGP Newspaper's staff.
