Reporting on the socio-economic situation at the meeting, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City Duong Ngoc Hai said that the economy in 2024 achieved many positive results.
Specifically, growth reached 7.17% (target 7.5%), in a situation where the city faced more challenges than opportunities; budget revenue was over 502 trillion VND; industrial production, tourism , and retail indicators all grew strongly.
However, Mr. Hai also noted that public investment disbursement has not been achieved, and the removal of backlogs and difficulties is still slow... greatly affecting the city's targets.

The City People's Committee also set the theme for 2025 as "Focusing on streamlining the organization to be streamlined - strong - efficient - effective - efficient; promoting digital transformation; implementing Resolution 98 of the National Assembly ; fundamentally resolving the city's difficulties and backlogs".

Previously, in her opening speech at the meeting, Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council Nguyen Thi Le informed that the meeting would hear reports and submissions from the City People's Committee.
The People's Council delegates will focus on objectively and comprehensively assessing the socio-economic situation and national defense and security in 2024; directions and tasks in 2025; the settlement of the city budget in 2023, estimated revenue and expenditure in 2024 and estimated revenue and expenditure in 2025; on adjusting and supplementing the Medium-term Public Investment Plan for the period 2021 - 2025 and the Public Investment Plan in 2025...
