On May 14, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety announced a fine against GodwayPharma Company Limited for violating the use of expired raw materials for production.
This company was administratively fined after using expired or unexpired raw materials for raw materials that are required to have an expiration date.
The company, headed by Mr. Vo Xuan H. (born in 1971), used the raw material of natural chocolate-flavored Prozymax protein powder to produce two products, natural chocolate-flavored protein powder P1 and pHSP, even though this raw material expired in February 2023.
The value of the infringing products was over VND1.9 billion with 49 boxes of P1 natural chocolate-flavored protein powder weighing 588kg, worth VND882 million, and 59 boxes of pHSP natural chocolate-flavored protein powder weighing 708kg, worth over VND1 billion. The amount of expired product raw materials in stock was 3,804 kg.

The company was fined a total of more than VND2.9 billion. In addition to the fine, the company was also required to destroy nearly 1,300 kg of manufactured products and 3,804 kg of expired protein powder ingredients to ensure that there were no more food safety risks.
Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety had implemented a plan to conduct a thematic inspection on food safety from April 21 to May 30. The inspection targets processed dairy products, nutritional foods and food supplements.
The inspection process includes taking samples of products with signs of violations for testing. The inspection teams have the right to handle according to the law if violations are detected.
The move is aimed at protecting consumer health and ensuring that products on the market comply with food safety regulations.
