The 10th grade exam scores in Ho Chi Minh City were announced by the Department of Education and Training on the morning of June 23, after 2 weeks of the exam.

Immediately after announcing the exam scores, the Department will announce the admission scores for grade 10 at Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted and Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted.

Admission scores for more than 100 other public high schools were announced on June 26.

This year, Ho Chi Minh City has 76,435 students taking the 10th grade exam in 2025, a decrease of 22,246 students compared to last year. Candidates will take the Literature and Math exams in 120 minutes and the English exam in 90 minutes.

Candidates applying to Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted and Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted will take an additional 150-minute specialized subject test. Candidates wishing to enter grade 10 with integrated English will take an integrated test in 150 minutes.

The target for public schools in Ho Chi Minh City this year is 70,070, reaching more than 90% of the candidates taking the exam. The race to enter grade 10 in Ho Chi Minh City public schools was easy when only more than 6,000 candidates were eliminated.

Looking back over the past 5 years, this is the first time the number of candidates taking the 10th grade exam in Ho Chi Minh City has been so low. In 2024, there were 98,681 candidates registered for the exam. This number was 96,080 in 2023, 92,461 in 2022, and 82,525 in 2021, but then switched to selection due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The reason why the number of candidates taking the 10th grade exam in Ho Chi Minh City this year is low may be because the number of 9th grade graduates in Ho Chi Minh City this year is lower, on the other hand, more than 12,000 students have proactively not registered to take the 10th grade exam.
