With an area of ​​nearly 150 hectares, the experimental garden of the Western Highlands Agriculture and Forestry Science Institute (WASI) in Buon Ma Thuot City has become a large garden preserving nearly 1,000 coffee varieties.

The garden is where WASI conducts research, development and technology transfer for sustainable coffee to farmers. This is also a place to visit, learn and experience the stages of coffee production from tissue culture, incubation, seedling production to the stage of coffee fruiting and harvesting...

Proceed to screen and select coffee beans with good structure.

Propagation by tissue culture in the laboratory.

Coffee varieties are grown in test tubes.

The best growing seedlings will be selected and planted in the greenhouse system before planting in the field. Currently, WASI has successfully developed many high-quality coffee varieties such as: TRS1, THA1, TR4...

When the flowers bloom, WASI staff pollinate the original coffee trees for crossbreeding.

Coffee varieties are numbered and stored in plastic bags. In the photo : dwarf green coffee variety.

Domestic coffee varieties that grow well include the Ea Tar variety, originating from Ea Tar commune (Cu M'gar district).

The garden also preserves imported varieties such as Arabica coffee, including yellow bean variants of the lines: Buorbon, Catoai...

... and the coffee variety.

During the harvest season, WASI engineers become farmers harvesting coffee.
