Gia Lai: Troops deployed to search and collect martyrs' remains in Cambodia

Attending and chairing the ceremony were Colonel Tran Minh Trong - Deputy Political Commissar, Head of Steering Committee 515 of Military Region 5 and Comrade Nguyen Thi Thanh Lich - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of Steering Committee 515 of Gia Lai province. Attending were Colonel Mai Kim Binh - Political Commissar of the Provincial Military Command, Permanent Deputy Head of Steering Committee 515 of the province and representatives of leaders of departments, branches, sectors and officers, soldiers and employees of Team K52.

During the 2024-2025 dry season, the Provincial Task Force continues to direct Team K52 to carry out the task of searching for and collecting the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died during the war in the provinces of Ratanakiri, Stung Treng, Preah Vihear, Kingdom of Cambodia. Following the direction of their superiors, officers and soldiers of Team K52 have upheld the spirit of responsibility, solidarity, and overcome difficulties and hardships in the process of carrying out their tasks.

As a result of the 2024-2025 dry season, the Team searched, collected and repatriated 23 martyrs' remains in Cambodia. At the same time, after returning home, the Team continued to search and collect in the province and discovered and collected 18 martyrs' remains in Ia Boong commune. This is a great effort and endeavor of the K52 Team.

After completing the 2024-2025 dry season mission, the Provincial Military Command coordinated with relevant agencies to advise the Provincial People's Committee to exchange diplomatic notes with the Task Force of the three provinces of Ratanakiri, Stung Treng, and Preah Vihear (Kingdom of Cambodia) to agree on the time to hold the Talks to deploy the 2025-2026 dry season mission.

According to the plan of the Steering Committee 515 of Gia Lai province, from the beginning of June 2025 up to now, the Team has proactively overcome difficulties, isolated and identified key areas; organized propaganda, surveys and searched for 28 pieces of information in 254 villages in 47 communes and wards in 13 districts and 3 cities of 3 northeastern provinces of Cambodia. At the same time, the Team has proactively advised the Political Department; Party Committee, Provincial Military Command in deploying forces, technical means, materials and funding to ensure the implementation of tasks.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee encouraged and wished the officers and soldiers of Team K52 to continue to excellently complete their assigned tasks.

In her speech assigning tasks, comrade Nguyen Thi Thanh Lich acknowledged and commended the sense of responsibility and efforts of the officers, soldiers and staff of Team K52; the comrades raised awareness, sentiment and preserved the good traditional morality of "When drinking water, remember its source".

To continue improving the quality of the work of searching, collecting and repatriating martyrs' remains, meeting the aspirations of relatives, families of martyrs and the people, the Head of the Provincial Steering Committee 515 requested officers, soldiers and staff of Team K52 to continue to uphold the sense of responsibility, clearly define tasks, promote determination, overcome difficulties in information, terrain and harsh weather; concentrate forces and means to check and verify information that needs to be consolidated and conduct collection for well-founded information collected in the three provinces of Ratanakiri, Stung Treng, Preah Vihear (Kingdom of Cambodia). At the same time, it is necessary to carry out good international relations, closely coordinate with the Cambodian armed forces; promote the qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", preserve the image of Vietnam - Cambodia friendship and ensure absolute safety in maneuvering, surveying and collecting martyrs' remains.

Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Thanh Lich also requested the Provincial Steering Committee 515 and the Provincial Military Command to strengthen leadership, direction, supervision and monitoring of Team K52 during the implementation of tasks; promptly resolve arising problems and create the most favorable conditions for the Team to successfully complete assigned tasks.

Previously, delegates, officers, soldiers and staff of Team K52 offered incense and commemorated the heroic martyrs at the Military Traditional House and offered incense and commemorated the heroic martyrs of Gia Lai province (Thong Nhat ward).
